About

Theorised aims to connect audiences with a world of critical thinkers, past and present, through lovingly crafted animations.
These are neither explainer videos nor infographics, rather brief introductions that aim to evoke connections and light a spark of curiosity.
The pilot series “Race Historicised” showcases some of the towering thinkers in the history of anti-racism and anti-colonial thought, whose revelations are as relevant today as ever.
"A perfect mix of journalism, intellectual history, and high-end video animation."
It was made possible thanks to generous funding from Northwestern University in Qatar, Goldsmiths College London and the Al Jazeera Media Network, the latter is where this series will air.

Notes from the author

“These films were made in collaboration with  artists, graphic designers, curators, dancers, historians, students, musicians and journalists. We came together to produce short films chronicling the lives and works of towering figures in culture and thought who are little known to the wider world, but who have made huge contributions to anti-racist movements, intellectual history and political struggle. Our project begins with a series on anti-colonial thinkers, writers and artists. The series will then grow - exploring intellectual giants whose work on class, gender around the world provides us with the staples to understand the times we are living in now.”
